Dentist Tells All! How Much Do Dental Implants Actually Cost?

In the last 5 years, dental implants cost has decreased significantly. This has enabled an increasing number of patients who have lost their teeth and are looking for a teeth replacement alternative, to be able to afford dental implants.

Additional Medisave subsidies that were announced this year (2025)  have also helped relieve some of the costs of dental implant treatment. Patients can now utilise up to $1,950 of Medisave subsidy per dental implant surgery.

However, while the demand for dental implants have increased, there continues to be very little accurate and transparent information on how dental implants are actually priced at dental clinics.

Patients continue to lament to me that they feel confused and even puzzled as to why there is a huge cost disparity for dental implants treatment. Some dental clinics offer fully Medisave-claimable dental implants, while others charge $2,000 – $5,000 per implant post Medisave subsidy. Is this cost difference a sign of poor quality work, or simply healthy competition?

While electronic goods like your iPhone usually have a cost range that falls within the normal range of $1,200 – $1,800 no matter which store you visit, dental implants can range anywhere from $0 (fully Medisave-claimable) to $5,000 or more, even if it were for the same tooth.

This tell-all guide has been written to help you ease your fears and anxiety at choosing a dental implant clinic. Unlike other dental implant cost guides available online that simply skim over the average cost of dental implants, this guide will first reveal how much dental implants actually cost a dental clinic and how a final mark up is determined.

I hope that this helps you fully understand how dental clinics price their dental implants, what factors affect the cost of your dental implants treatment and why ultimately, cost should not be the sole determining factor for which dental clinic you choose for your dental implants treatment.

How Much Do Dental Implants Actually Cost (A Dental Clinic)?

To understand the cost of dental implants, we must first understand the parts that go into your dental implant treatment – from the implant screw to the final dental implant crown restoration.

A dental implant is made up of a few components, namely the implant screw, the abutment and finally the implant crown with final abutment. When restoring the implant crown, an impression coping tool is needed to accurately capture impressions for the final crown placement. Different implant systems charge varying costs for each of these parts.

Once the impression has been taken, it is sent to a dental lab that will design your final crown. The lab charges a fee to the dental clinic for design and production.

For the purpose of this article, I will only be focusing on two dental implant systems – Megagen (Korean dental implant system) and Anthogyr (European dental implant system) as there is a rather wide range of implant systems in Singapore, and it would be impossible to cover them all in one single article.

Please take note that the following costs are based on the average cost of dental implant parts in Singapore. It might not be representative of all dental clinics. Some dental clinics that do high-volume dental implant cases have heavily subsidised rates, while others have the following rates. I have also used the average cost of dental implants in Singapore as a benchmark.

The usage of some parts are also dependent on a case-by-case basis. In certain cases, the cost of parts might increase based on the complexity of the implant case.

Why is there such a wide range in dental implant costs?

If you are wondering why there is such a wide range in dental implant costs, it is simple!

The final cost of dental implants is often based on the following factors:

  • Brand of dental implants used (e.g. Straumann dental implants are generally more expensive than brands like Osstem because of the higher implant costs)
  • Whether you are using titanium or zirconia (ceramic) implants
  • Whether you are looking for functional or holistic dentists
  • The volume of implants that the dental clinic does (e.g. unit of economics: the higher the volume, the less an implant can cost)
  • The expertise and working experience of a dentist
  • Reputation of the dental clinic
  • Reputation of the dental provider
  • Whether you are visiting a dental specialist or a general dentist
  • The location of the dental clinic (e.g. town clinics are usually more costly than neighbourhood clinics because of the rental and operational costs)
  • The time taken to complete treatment
  • The dental lab provider (e.g. highly personalised local dental lab providers usually cost more than overseas dental lab providers)
  • The discretion of the dental provider or the clinic.

At up-scale dental clinics like toofus™ Dental, we keep our treatment costs low through close partnerships with our dental implant brands, and our dental labs.

Our dental implant costs are based on what is fair and reasonable to the patient and to the dental provider. We do not heavily mark up our costs even when we do good work. Good dental work should not and does not have to come at a premium.

Why are dental implants so expensive in Singapore?

In the 2025 Julius Baer Global Wealth and Lifestyle Report, Singapore was ranked as one of the most expensive cities to live in.

Dental implant costs are considered higher than average in Singapore because of many factors such as:

  • Cost of rental,
  • Cost of wages for skilled dental professionals, dental nurses and clinic staff
  • The high cost of importing medical-grade implant materials
  • Laboratory fees for custom prosthetics, and
  • The overhead costs of maintaining advanced dental equipment and technology.

However, the cost of dental implants can largely be subsidised by the CPF Medisave Fund. You are also able to use your CDC vouchers (last updated July 2025) at neighbourhood dental clinics to cover a portion of your dental implant treatment costs.

Factors That Impact The Cost of Your Dental Implants

Brand of Dental Implant Used

Not all implants are made the same. Premium brands like Straumann or Anthogyr (a brand owned by Straumann) come with decades of research, precision manufacturing, and long-term success data. These brands are generally more expensive, and are often used by high-end clinics.

On the other hand, more affordable brands like Osstem, Dentium, and Megagen are widely used and clinically proven, but cost significantly less. The brand selected can affect both the cost and perceived value of your treatment.

Titanium vs Zirconia (Ceramic) Implants

Titanium implants are the most common type and are usually more affordable. Zirconia implants, sometimes chosen for holistic or aesthetic reasons, are metal-free and biocompatible, but they tend to be more expensive due to the complexity of manufacturing and surgical placement.

General Dentist vs Dental Specialist

If your implant is placed by a general dentist, you’ll likely pay less. This does not mean that your general dentist is any less experienced. It simply means you are paying for the additional expertise that your prosthodontist, oral surgeon or periodontist might have.

Fees are typically higher due to their advanced training and experience in managing complex cases.

Experience of the Dentist

A dentist who places implants daily or weekly is likely to charge more than someone who does them once in a while.

You are also paying for surgical skill, planning accuracy, and reduced risk of complications — which can save you more in the long run.

Location of the Dental Clinic

Clinics in prime locations (e.g. Orchard Road, CBD, Novena) usually have higher operating costs — and these costs are reflected in the price of treatment.
Clinics in neighbourhood estates may be more affordable due to lower rentals and overheads.

Volume of Implants Done by the Clinic

Some implant-focused clinics place hundreds of implants every year. Due to high volume, they may negotiate better prices on materials and lab work, which can result in more competitive fees for patients.

Treatment Time & Case Complexity

A simple implant case can take 1–2 visits.
But complex cases may require:

  • Bone grafting
  • Sinus lift surgery
  • Temporary dentures
  • Multiple scans or follow-ups

Dental Lab Quality

The final crown placed on the implant is fabricated by a dental lab.

  • High-end local labs offer personalised aesthetics and better bite precision.
  • Overseas mass-production labs are cheaper but may lack the same level of detail.

The quality of the lab can affect both the look, feel, and cost of your dental implant.

Functional vs Holistic Dentistry Approach

Some clinics offer functional, biologically focused care. These may include:

  • Biocompatibility testing
  • Ozone therapy
  • Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF)
  • Metal-free implant planning

While this approach is highly customised, it is also more costly.

Pricing Philosophy of the Clinic

Some clinics choose to offer affordable dental implants as part of their mission to increase access. Others may price based on exclusivity or patient demand.

Ultimately, the discretion of the dental provider or clinic plays a role in how treatment is priced.

What Does The Cost of Dental Implants Normally Include?

The cost of your dental implants normally include the following components:

  • Dental implant screw
  • Dental implant abutment
  • Dental implant healing abutment
  • Dental implant surgery

Depending on the dental clinic that you head to, it might or might not include the following:

  • Dental implant crown
  • Disposables and consumables
  • Reviews and follow ups
  • Medication

Most dental clinics do not include the following into the cost of your dental implants:

  • Diagnostics (e.g. X-rays, CBCT 3D scans or 3D intraoral scans)
  • Treatment planning if a surgical guide is used
  • Sinus lift treatment
  • Bone graft
  • Extractions
  • Gum treatment (e.g. deep gum cleaning, gum surgery)
  • Any other general dentistry work needed before treatment

How Much Should I Actually Be Paying for a Dental Implant?

The truth is: There is no one fixed price for dental implants in Singapore. It will not be possible for me to tell you what value you place on replacing your missing teeth with dental implants.

Dental clinics are allowed to set their own costs with no actual price benchmarks.

Depending on what dental clinic you go to, who performs the surgery and what is included, you can be quoted anywhere from $0 (fully Medisave-claimable) to over $5,000 per tooth.

So how much should you pay?

That honestly depends on what you value:

  • If you prioritise long-term durability, you may be willing to invest more in premium implant systems and an experienced team.
  • If you are looking for a budget-friendly option that still meets your needs, some clinics offer transparent packages using clinically proven, affordable implant brands.
  • If you are unsure, the best first step is to get a consultation, understand the full treatment plan, and compare what is included.

My tip to patients would be to focus on the success rates of the dental professional rather than just the costs. Compare what is in the price, rather than just the price.

A cheaper implant might not include the crown or other miscellaneous costs. A more expensive option might offer more experience, customisation, or ongoing care.

What Is The Difference Between a $2,000 Dental Implant vs a $6,000 Dental Implant?

The main difference between a $2,000 dental implant and a $6,000 one often lies in what is included, who is performing the implant procedure and the quality of materials used.

A $2,000 implant might only cover the basic implant screw and implant surgery with extra charges for the crown, scans, or follow-up visits.

In contrast, a $6,000 implant quote may reflect a fully inclusive package with a custom-crown from a high-end local lab.

It is similar to comparing a Xiaomi phone with a Samsung Galaxy or Apple iPhone. The Xiaomi might function well, do everything you need, and cost far less, but the iPhone or Galaxy offers advanced engineering, longer-term support, and often better performance in high-demand situations. You are paying for the ecosystem, durability, and polish, and not just the hardware.

Likewise, a more expensive implant may come with added confidence, proven clinical outcomes, and better long-term serviceability. That does not mean the affordable option is bad. It just means you need to understand what is included and whether it meets your needs.

Price alone does not reflect quality unless you know the full story behind it.

What is the difference between a Korean and European dental implant system?

The main difference between Korean and European dental implant systems lies in their price point, branding, and clinical track record.

Korean implants (like Osstem, Dentium, or Megagen) are more affordable and widely used across Asia. They offer strong clinical success rates, are backed by 10–15 years of research, and are supported by many local dental labs in Singapore making them convenient and cost-effective for both dentists and patients.

European implants (such as Straumann, Anthogyr, Nobel Biocare, and Dentsply Sirona) are considered premium systems. They are typically more expensive, but come with 20+ years of long-term data, advanced surface technologies, and global brand recognition. These systems are often used in complex cases.

Think of it like comparing a Casio watch to a Swiss-made luxury watch. Both tell time accurately but one focuses on value and accessibility, while the other emphasizes engineering heritage and premium status.

Both Korean and European implant types are medically safe and effective. What matters more is proper case planning, surgical technique, and long-term maintenance, not just the brand stamped on the implant screw.

Why are some dental clinics in Singapore offering dental implants for so cheap?

If you have come across dental implant ads in Singapore that charge as low as no-cost after Medisave subsidy, you might be wondering: Is it too good to be true? Why are some clinics charging so much less than others?

Here are some key reasons why some clinics can offer cheaper dental implants and what you should look out for when comparing prices:

Implant Brand & Cost Price

Cheaper implants often use lower cost brands that are still clinically acceptable and biocompatible but might not have the same long-term research or premium materials like Straumann or Anthogyr.

Lower implant costs equals cheaper treatment for you!

Minimal Treatment Inclusions

Some advertised prices cover only the implant screw and implant surgery. They exclude critical components like:

  • X-rays
  • CBCT scans
  • The dental crown (the visible tooth)
  • Follow ups and reviews

Or if they do include the above, they might be including only a metal or porcelain fused to metal (PFM) crown, which might not be what you are looking for in terms of aesthetics.

These “entry prices” can appear low, but add up significantly once all components are included.

Clinic Location & Rental Costs

Clinics in heartland areas or industrial buildings usually have lower overheads than those in malls or central business districts. Lower rent allows them to pass on savings to patients.

A less central location does not mean lower quality, just better cost control.

High Implant Volume = Economies of Scale

Some clinics like toofus™ Dental focus heavily on dental implants and place hundreds per year. With that volume, it is possible to:

  • Negotiate better prices from suppliers and labs
  • Streamline workflows
  • Reduce unit costs per implant

High-volume clinics can offer lower prices without cutting quality.

Use of Overseas Dental Labs

Some clinics work with overseas labs to fabricate implant crowns, which is significantly cheaper than using local, highly personalised labs in Singapore. The tradeoff may be in turnaround time or customisation.

Medisave Claim Deductions

Some clinics offset part of the cost using your Medisave, which can help you pay less out-of-pocket. Others price their services tightly around the claimable amount, reducing your cash burden.

Clinic Strategy or Philosophy

Some clinics like toofus™ Dental simply choose to offer lower-cost dental implants as part of their mission to increase access to dental care.

Their revenue model may be built around:

  • High volume at lower margins
  • Streamlined services
  • A focus on essential treatments without unnecessary upselling.

Why is toofus Dental able to offer dental implants for a below average cost?

We understand that many patients are surprised when they see how much more affordable our dental implant prices are compared to other clinics in Singapore.

Some even ask, “Is this too good to be true?”

Here is the honest answer: At toofus™ Dental, we NEVER cut corners. We simply cut unnecessary costs. We are structured differently by design.

Efficient, No-Frills Workflow

We focus on what matters most:

  • Safe and predictable surgical outcomes
  • Long-lasting prosthetic work
  • Patient comfort and transparency

We remove the fluff. Instead of upselling add-ons you don’t need, we focus on delivering treatment that is straightforward, effective, and fairly priced.

Trusted, Clinically Proven Implant Systems

We use well-established implant brands that are widely respected and backed by strong clinical research.

Instead of charging extra for premium-brand marketing, we choose systems that strike a balance between reliability and affordability. We only use brands that are used globally and have long-term success data.

In-House Lab Partnerships

Most clinics outsource their dental prosthetics (crowns, bridges, overdentures) to third-party labs which often adds layers of cost.

At Toofus Dental, we work closely with a dedicated digital dental lab, reducing middleman fees and turnaround times. This allows us to pass the savings back to you without compromising the quality of the final restoration.

High Treatment Volume = Lower Unit Cost

We focus heavily on restorative treatments like implants, dentures, and full-mouth solutions. Because we do these procedures regularly, our team is able to work more efficiently, and our suppliers often give us better rates.

High volume lowers our unit cost, but your care is never rushed or cookie-cutter. Every case is personalised.

Location Matters

We do not operate in high-rent shopping malls or commercial buildings.

Our clinic is intentionally located at the fringe of central Singapore, where rental and operational overheads are lower. This frees us from inflating prices just to cover monthly costs.

Ethical Pricing Philosophy

We believe dental implants should not be a luxury product. Too many patients delay replacing missing teeth because of cost and end up suffering more long-term damage as a result.

That is why we’ve built our pricing model around accessibility without compromise. We offer Medisave-claimable procedures, transparent breakdowns, and no hidden charges.

Should I be worried if my dental implants are cheap?

Not necessarily, but it depends on why they are cheap.

A lower price does not always mean lower quality. Some dental clinics are able to offer affordable implants because they streamline their processes, use efficient in-house labs, or operate in lower-rent areas. Others may use clinically proven but less expensive implant systems that still deliver excellent long-term results.

That said, you should always ask what is included in the quoted price. Some “cheap” implant packages may only cover the implant screw, excluding the crown, X-rays, or follow-ups. Others may be carried out by less experienced providers or use generic parts that could make future repairs harder.

Ultimately, what matters more than the price is the planning, execution, and follow-up care. Dental implants are a surgical treatment and cutting corners in diagnosis, sterility, or precision can lead to long-term complications.

If you are being offered a significantly lower price, do your due diligence! Ask for a full breakdown, understand the brand and components used, and make sure you are being seen by a qualified professional. When done right, even affordable dental implants can last you decades.

Where Can I Get Affordable Dental Implants?

It is possible to get affordable dental implants at most neighbourhood dental clinics in Singapore or clinics that do a high-volume of dental implant surgeries like toofus™ Dental.

The good news is that affordable dental implants do exist, and they are not necessarily lower in quality. Clinics like  toofus™ Dental are structured to provide high-quality, Medisave-claimable implant treatment at below-average prices without cutting corners.

You can also ask your dentist whether your implant treatment is eligible for Medisave, which can offset up to $1,950.

The best place to get affordable dental implants is not just the cheapest. It is where the pricing is clear, the team is experienced, and the treatment is designed around your long-term oral health.

Dental Implants Can Be Affordable Without Treatment Compromise

Dental implants are one of the best long-term solutions for replacing missing teeth, but understanding the wide price range can be confusing. The final cost is shaped by many factors such as implant brand, materials, dentist experience, clinic location, and the overall treatment plan.

While some clinics charge premium rates due to brand reputation or complex workflows, others like toofus™ Dental focus on delivering the same high-quality outcomes without unnecessary mark-ups.

The key is not to look for the cheapest implant, but to look for transparent pricing, a skilled dental team, and a clear understanding of what is included in your treatment. Ask the right questions, compare what’s in the package (not just the price), and ensure the clinic prioritises both safety and long-term results.

With Medisave subsidies now covering up to $1,950 per implant surgery, dental implants are more accessible than ever. If cost has been stopping you, it is worth exploring clinics that provide fair, all-inclusive pricing while maintaining high clinical standards.

Your dental implant is not just a cost! It is an investment in your health, confidence, and quality of life. Choose wisely, and it can last you for a lifetime.
